What it does inside Teams
One click with your work account. No extra password to remember, and admins stay in control through Microsoft.
Message the bot to request, edit or cancel your own leave and check your balance, without opening another app.
Approvers get a card with Approve and Decline buttons right in Teams, so requests do not sit in an inbox.
Pick a channel and a time, and Book Time Off posts who is off that day. Private leave types show as off, with no reason.
Connect a calendar once and approved leave is written there automatically, and kept in sync if it changes.
Pin Book Time Off as a Teams tab for the full team calendar, your profile and approvals, already signed in.
A leave type you mark as private never shows its reason in a channel post, only that the person is off. Book Time Off never reads your mailbox, your files or your chat history.
Adding it to your team
-
Install the app
Add Book Time Off for Microsoft Teams from the store. Your Microsoft administrator may need to approve it for your organisation first.
-
Sign in with Microsoft
Open the tab or message the bot and sign in once with your work account. Your team is matched by work email.
-
Choose your digest channel
Add the app to a team, pick the channel for the daily who's-off summary, and set the time. That is the channel sorted.
Everything in Book Time Off also works on the web, and a weekly team digest by email gives you the same who's-off summary with no Teams needed. The Teams app is an add-on, not a requirement.
How the price compares
The Teams experience is included in the flat £1, where other tools either charge a higher tier for the Microsoft features or sell the Teams app per seat on top.
| Book Time Off | Timetastic | Vacation Tracker | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | £1 / user / month (flat) | £1.20 Basic / £2 Pro | Per-user, billed separately |
| Microsoft sign-in | Included | Pro plan | Included |
| Request & approve in Teams | Included | Notifications only | Included |
| Daily who's-off to a channel | Included | Pro plan | Included |
| Outlook calendar sync | Included | Pro plan | Add-on |
| Separate balance per leave type | No · one shared allowance | Yes | Yes |
One honest difference to weigh: Book Time Off records leave types such as sickness or unpaid leave as categories on one shared allowance under a single approval workflow, with annual leave drawing down the balance. If you need a separate pot and approval flow per leave type, that is a real difference. For most small teams it is not a blocker, and the simpler model is part of why the price stays flat.
