What it does inside Teams

🔐
Sign in with Microsoft

One click with your work account. No extra password to remember, and admins stay in control through Microsoft.

💬
Book leave in chat

Message the bot to request, edit or cancel your own leave and check your balance, without opening another app.

Approve in Teams

Approvers get a card with Approve and Decline buttons right in Teams, so requests do not sit in an inbox.

📅
Daily who's-off summary

Pick a channel and a time, and Book Time Off posts who is off that day. Private leave types show as off, with no reason.

📧
Shows up in Outlook

Connect a calendar once and approved leave is written there automatically, and kept in sync if it changes.

📊
Open as a tab

Pin Book Time Off as a Teams tab for the full team calendar, your profile and approvals, already signed in.

Privacy is built in

A leave type you mark as private never shows its reason in a channel post, only that the person is off. Book Time Off never reads your mailbox, your files or your chat history.

Adding it to your team

  1. Install the app

Add Book Time Off for Microsoft Teams from the store. Your Microsoft administrator may need to approve it for your organisation first.

  2. Sign in with Microsoft

Open the tab or message the bot and sign in once with your work account. Your team is matched by work email.

  3. Choose your digest channel

Add the app to a team, pick the channel for the daily who's-off summary, and set the time. That is the channel sorted.

i
Not on Microsoft 365?

Everything in Book Time Off also works on the web, and a weekly team digest by email gives you the same who's-off summary with no Teams needed. The Teams app is an add-on, not a requirement.

How the price compares

The Teams experience is included in the flat £1, where other tools either charge a higher tier for the Microsoft features or sell the Teams app per seat on top.

Separate balance per leave type No · one shared allowance Yes Yes

One honest difference to weigh: Book Time Off records leave types such as sickness or unpaid leave as categories on one shared allowance under a single approval workflow, with annual leave drawing down the balance. If you need a separate pot and approval flow per leave type, that is a real difference. For most small teams it is not a blocker, and the simpler model is part of why the price stays flat.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to leave Teams to book or approve leave?

No. In a private chat with the Book Time Off bot you can request, edit and cancel your own leave and check your balance, and approvers get a card with Approve and Decline buttons right in Teams. You can also open Book Time Off as a tab for the full calendar, your profile and approvals.

Does it post who's off to a channel?

Yes. Add the app to a team, choose a channel, and Book Time Off posts a daily who's-off summary there at a time you set. A leave type you mark as private never shows its reason in the channel, only that the person is off.

Does approved leave show up in Outlook?

Yes. Each person can connect their Outlook calendar once, and approved leave is written there automatically as an all-day event. Cancelling or changing the leave keeps the calendar in sync.

How much does the Teams integration cost?

It is included in the flat price of £1 per user per month. There is no separate Teams tier and no add-on fee. Microsoft sign-in, Outlook calendar sync and the Teams app all come in the one price, with a 30-day free trial and no card required.

Does our IT administrator need to approve the app?

Your Microsoft administrator controls which Teams apps can be installed, so they may need to approve Book Time Off for your organisation before you can add it. It uses a multi-tenant Microsoft app and never reads your mailbox, files or chat history.
